Piia Katri

Piia Katriina Allaway was born under full name Piia Katriina Sirja Solie Lähtiyönen-Allaway under sign of Scorpio in Joensuu, Finland at the 30th of October, as a half-Finn and a half-Scott.

Rose in more than three countries she learned to love all three of them, with Finland’s Snow, Scotland’s Rain and Germany’s foggy days. This weather is something she couldn’t live without; she often says that this rain and the bad-at-all-weather are inspiring her the most.

Piia came up with writing at the age of eleven. “My Bestie and I heard a funny sentence in class which we wanted to write about. Bestie wrote about two or three pages while I wrote twenty, in a plenty bad language with no doubt about my grammar – which was horribly these days!” After her first ‘book’ was written her class members wanted more at all, and she wrote: “I can’t remember if it was two or three more books, but the people were happy with that.”

She wrote essays and short stories and poems until she was at the age of thirteen, none has ever read something from her yet, but “people on an Internet platform had the chance to read what I wrote. They were all kind of impressed about the stuff [, but I wasn’t at all].” At the age of thirteen she first time started again with Lyrics for songs and again there was admiration from everywhere. But “I still wasn’t satisfied in any way!”

As well at the age of fourteen Piia came up with the first idea for a novel – it should be called Kharon and deal with a murderer and stuff.  She noticed quite soon that these typical crime novels ain’t something for her, and so she laid it down, when suddenly her future-wife Kim Edison Hana fell off the sky.

The second idea came up as well very fast, a story about a kind of alternative universe, with an own-created species called ‘Gardeners’. “At all, the whole truth about this book is, that I heard Cattle Decapitation’s ‘The Gardeners of Eden’, and I found that title so awesome I wanted to use it in somehow, and so I created a species called ‘The Gardeners of Eden’.”
She quit writing the book soon as well. Not because of the Idea seemed to be uninteresting, but she just knew she had spent too much time writing this, and her kind of writing, her literal voice has become so different.
“Once a day I want to dig the papers out of a huge stack of papers and re-write it again. In my opinion the storyline and the idea behind the stories are kind of impressing, at least for a 14-year-old.”

The next idea came up as she was around fifteen years old. “I sat at the balcony and had a real bad urge to write something. I just didn’t know what, and so I started typing and in exactly two weeks I wrote about 113 pages with kind of claim in themes just as schizophrenia and homosexuality. To be honest I am proud for that, yes!”
